'Maternity' is a story written by Lilika Nakos.It is a story glorifies maternal affection against the background of horrifying war and the harsh realities of a refugee camp.The story illuminates the noble  message of the need to possess humanitarian values.Mikali,a teenage boy,is the main character.

PROCESS

RAPPORT MAKING
Teacher enter classroom with a pleasant face and have an informal talk with the students.Then ask questions like;
  1. Do you live in a joint family or nuclear family?
  2. How many members are there in your family?
  3. Who are they?
  4. After the class,when you reach home,who do you want to see first or who do you search first?
  5. Can you think of spending a day without your mother?
  6. Have you ever thought of children who doesn't have parents and living in orphanages?
  7. What are the needs of these children?
  8. Who would be there to fulfil their needs?
ENTRY ACTIVITY 
Teacher shows the picture of a lady with a boy who is suffering from poverty, and a picture after she adopted that boy.


Objective       : To make the students aware of the love of mother.

Question         : Write a suitable caption for this picture. 
Hints                :Observe the picture carefully and find a suitable attractive caption for 
                          this. I will give you five minutes . random calling. 
Consolidation: Mother's love is the purest form of love, that can't be replaced.

So, you understood the love of a mother who is not the actual mother of that boy. Here we have a story about the same theme .This story is titled 'Maternity'. It was written by Lilika Nakos. In this story the terrifying experiences in a refugee camp is given clearly.

TEACHER'S VERSION 
Oh! What a miserable life Iam leading. I don't have anyone to share my feelings. I have lost my parents. They left this baby with me and it has become a misfortune for me. I haven't done any mistakes in my life so far intensionally. Still Iam receiving punishment from God. Oh God! What to do? I don't know anything. I couldn't even work. How can I survive now? There is no hope left with me. God pease help me to come out of these miseries. 

ASSIGNMENT 
Write the character sketch of Mikali.
